Conrad Siegel Announces Strategic Leadership Transition

Abigail Fortino has moved into the role of President in 2025 after a 24-month transition.

Harrisburg, PA (January 16, 2025) – Conrad Siegel, delivering comprehensive employee benefits and investment advisory consulting, recently announced the culmination of a strategic transition plan for the firm’s leadership team.

Mark Bonsall, FSA, EA, MAAA, has served as the firm’s President and Chair of its Management Committee since 2011. He has been overseeing the transition of the role to Abigail Fortino, ASA, EA, MAAA. The transition has been occurring since 2023, becoming fully effective on January 1, 2025.

Conrad Siegel is equally owned by nineteen Partners and working consultants at the firm. Leadership duties are split amongst the partnership through committees, with the Management Committee overseeing the ongoing management of the firm.

Since the formation of its Management Committee, it has become standard practice to transition the role of Chair and President every 10-15 years.

Bonsall has served as President for over 13 years in which the firm has seen significant growth. In that role, he has continued his consulting work in the areas of defined benefit plans, executive retirement plans, and other postemployment benefits (OPEB), in addition to his management duties. After the completed transition, Bonsall will remain on the firm’s Management Committee and continue his consulting work while taking a more active role in overseeing the firm’s strategic growth.

“Abby has been an exceptional consultant, a dedicated community advocate, and an inspiring leader within our organization for years,” said Bonsall. “I am certain the firm will continue to grow and thrive under her stewardship. Her unwavering commitment to our purpose and values will continue to build on the great tradition of our leaders from the past sixty years.”

Fortino, a Harrisburg native, started at Conrad Siegel in 2003 as an Actuarial Analyst and has served in leadership roles on many of the firm’s committees, including: Business Development, Finance, and the Management Committee. She became a Partner in 2014. As a Consulting Actuary, she has led the organization’s actuarial defined benefit line of business since 2012.

Fortino is very active in the local community and has served on many non-profit boards, including the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC, United Way of the Capital Region, Pinnacle Health Foundation, TFEC’s Fund for Women and Girls, and Capital Area Girls on the Run. She was also named a Women of Influence by Central Penn Business Journal in 2015.

“I am really excited for this new opportunity,” said Fortino. “We have an amazing team and I’m looking forward to working together to continue serving our clients and our community in great ways.”

For Conrad Siegel, the leadership transition occurs at an exciting time as it continues to strategically grow. The organization now employs over 115 team members, it remains one of the largest actuarial consulting firms in the country, and was recently named one of America’s Top Financial Advisors by CNBC.
